Voting in Montreux
Who can vote, including foreign residents, how to vote and the next dates.
We are not the Commune. This page puts its public information into English; the office named in each answer decides.
- Can foreigners vote in Montreux?
- Yes, at communal level only. You must be 18, have lived in Switzerland without a break for at least the last 10 years, in the canton of Vaud for at least the last 3, live in Montreux with a B or C permit, and be on the electoral roll.
- Can foreign residents be elected in Montreux?
- Yes. Foreign residents who meet the voting conditions can stand for the communal council or the Municipality, and sign a communal initiative or referendum.
- How do I vote in Montreux?
- By post: A-mail until the Thursday before the vote, B-mail until the Tuesday. Or drop the envelope in the outside letterbox of the general administration, Grand-Rue 73, until 11:00 on voting Sunday. Or in person on voting Sunday from 9:00 to 11:00 at the polling stations in Clarens (Jaman 8) and Montreux (Montreux-Est school).

- The next federal voting day listed by the Commune is 29 November 2026.
- Where is the official notice board of Montreux?
- Avenue des Alpes 22. Only that physical board is authoritative; the Commune’s site shows the same notices: building permit applications, tree-felling requests, council decisions and vote results.
